Removal
1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery.
2. Remove the rear seat or rear seat cushion to access the fuel level sensor cover.
3. Using a screwdriver, carefully remove the plastic cover from the floor to gain access to the fuel level sensor.
4. Disconnect the wiring connector from the sensor and secure the connector to the vehicle body to prevent it from falling behind the tank.
5. Mark the location of the fuel hoses. Disconnect both hoses from the top of the sensor, then plug the ends of the hoses to minimize fuel loss.
6. Note the direction of the arrows on the fuel level sensor cover and the fuel tank, unscrew the locking ring and remove it from the tank.
7. Carefully remove the sensor assembly from the fuel tank, being careful not to damage the lever. Remove the rubber O-ring and check its condition. If the O-ring is not serviceable, purchase a new one.
8. Please note that the fuel gauge sensor is only available as a complete assembly - individual components are not sold.
Installation
9. Make sure the inlet tube filter is not clogged. Install the O-ring on the top of the fuel tank.
10. Carefully insert the fuel level sensor assembly into the fuel tank.
11. Align the arrow on the sensor cover with the arrow on the fuel tank (the arrow should point towards the rear of the car), then install the locking ring. Tighten the locking ring securely, then recheck that the marks on the pump cover and tank remain aligned.
Note: If a suitable adapter is available, tighten the locking ring to the torque specified in the Specifications.
12. Connect the supply and return hoses to the top of the sensor.
13. Connect the electrical wiring.
14. Connect the battery and start the engine. Check the fuel level sensor supply and return hoses for leaks.
15. Install the plastic cover and rear seat cushion.
