Engine starts
Drain pipes must be installed on the nozzles.
Start the engine.
Set the CUP diagnostic tool to the parameter display. Warm up the engine. Check fuel temperature using parameter PR063 «Fuel temperature». If the temperature changes rapidly, wait for the fuel temperature to rise to 50°C, if the temperature displayed by the CUP scan tool does not change or changes too slowly, drive for 15 minutes.
Stop the engine.
Install tool Mot. 1760 Set the CUP diagnostic tool to the parameter display and check parameter PR038 «Pressure in the fuel distribution ramp». Have an assistant supervise the filling of the fuel tanks while the engine is running, as one of them may fill up faster than the others if there is a large leak from the corresponding injector.
Start the engine. Increase the engine speed until the rail pressure reaches 550 bar. If the speed is below 3000 min-1, maintain this pressure. If the speed is above 3000 min-1, reduce it to a rail pressure of 500 bar and maintain this pressure. Maintain these conditions for a minute. Release the throttle control pedal and maintain idle speed for 10 seconds.
Stop the engine. Measure the amount of fuel in each beaker. Replace the nozzle, which corresponds to the amount of fuel over 50 ml. Remove tool Mot. 1760.
Engine won't start
Install tool Mot. 1760. Click on the start button (on a card or keychain) or follow the engine start procedure within 15 seconds (key «ignition»).
Measure the length of the fuel-filled pipe sections of tool Mot. 1760.
Replace the nozzle, which corresponds to the length of the fuel-filled section of the tube 10 cm more than the arithmetic mean of the other three tubes.
