General information

This system includes electric drives for the driver's seat and outside rear-view mirrors with position memory. The passenger seat is equipped with an electric drive without position memory.

The driver has two options:
  • adjust the driver's seat and outside rearview mirrors to your liking. These adjustments are made in manual control mode;
  • set and return the driver's seat and outside rearview mirrors to the desired position in one movement. These adjustments are performed in automatic control mode.

Three ECUs constantly control the position of the adjustable elements, for this they analyze the driver's commands and control the electric motors:
  • driver's seat drive (The ECU is located under the driver's seat);
  • drives for external rear view mirrors (The ECU is built into the electric motor of each multiplex pulse window lifter).

Note: To memorize the driver's seat settings, with the "+" of the power consumers on, use the control panel to adjust the seat position in three parameters and the position of the outside rear-view mirrors in the horizontal and vertical planes. Then press the "memory" button (long press) to record the positions. If a Renault card is inserted into the reader, the adjustment parameters will be saved in memory. The memorization is confirmed by an audible signal coming from the instrument panel.

Note: There is no on/off button on the seat control panel.

Central Election Commission

Each time the door opening is activated by means of the radio frequency remote control and each time the "+" of the electrical consumers is switched on, the UEC checks the Renault card number.

When the driver's door is opened, it transmits the card number via wired communication in order to determine the adjustments that need to be restored.

Seat ECU

It is located under the driver's seat (fixed to the front of the frame).

Depending on the activation method, the ECU is in standby mode:
  • in a passive state;
  • in working mode (in active state).

The ECU switches from passive to active state upon receiving the following signals:
  • signal for switching on "+" of electricity consumers;
  • driver's door opening signal;
  • remote control signal from Renault card.

The ECU goes into standby mode approximately 40 minutes after the ignition is switched off, if the driver's door has not been opened during this time. When the door is opened, the ECU immediately returns to the active state.

To remove the ECU, it is not necessary to remove the seat.

Door modules for storing information about the position of the outside rear-view mirrors. For the function of storing the driver's seat adjustments, both window lift motors must be equipped with an ECU.

Note: Data exchange about driver's seat adjustments is carried out between the front door modules via a special multiplex network.

Seat

The seat drive includes three electric motors (for adjustment by three parameters):

  • longitudinal displacement (along the guides) 1;
  • change pillow height 2;
  • change the backrest angle 3.

To transmit movement, each electric motor is equipped with a flexible shaft and a gearbox. The electric motors also have built-in position sensors (one for each adjustment).

Control Panel

The control panel is installed on the outer side trim of the driver's seat, the panel contains:
  • Seat cushion adjustment switch A - for adjusting the seat longitudinally and in height.
  • Seat back adjustment switch B - for adjusting the backrest angle.
  • Memory button C for storing or recalling driver's seat adjustments (driver's seat and outside rearview mirrors).

This button is used by long pressing (2 sec) to memorize the driver's seat settings. The memorization is confirmed by a sound signal when pressed briefly to recall the driver's seat settings from memory.

Note: Pressing any button during the reset process will stop the movement of the seat and outside rearview mirrors.

Note: Recalling adjustments from memory is not possible while the vehicle is moving.

If the settings are recalled from memory with the outside rear-view mirrors folded in, the electric motors for adjusting the mirrors are only activated after they are brought into the working position.

Removal

The control panel is secured with three metal clips D on the seat runner cover. To remove it, press the clips one by one while inserting your hand between the seat cushion and the runner cover.
