Required special tool
- T. Av. 476 Ball joint puller.
- Mot. 453-01 Hose clamp.
Tightening torques, Nm
- Wheel bolts 90.
- Nut of fastening of the steering hinge 37.
- Steering gear mounting bolts 50.
- Bolt of fastening of a fork of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft 25.
- Engine mount tie rod bolt 65.
Removing
1. Place the vehicle on a two post lift.
2. Remove the front wheels.
3. Install clip Mot. 453-01 on all tubes extending from the power steering reservoir.
Attention! Do not pinch the high pressure pipes.
4. For F8Q engine, remove (above):
- battery;
- battery bases;
- pipes of high and low pressure from the hydrodistributor.
5. Snip the rubber boot clamp and move it towards the bulkhead.
6. Disconnect the steering joints using the puller T.Av 476.
7. Turn away an eccentric bolt of fastening of a plug of the cardan hinge of a steering shaft.
8. Disconnect the oxygen sensor.
9. Remove a reception pipe.
10. Remove the bolt (from the engine side) mount the engine mount tie rod and rotate the power unit forward.
11. Insert the fixing bar.
11. Disconnect the high and low pressure pipes from the steering gear (take measures to collect the working fluid).
12. Turn away a nut on an arm of fastening of a tube.
13. Remove the two nuts securing the heat shield above the right steering gear mount.
14. Remove the nuts securing the steering gear and remove it from the timing side of the engine.
Note:
- do not remove the tubes between the hydraulic distributor and the power cylinder;
- install plugs in the holes on the steering mechanism to prevent foreign particles from entering inside.
Installation
1. Installation is carried out in the reverse order of removal.
2. Observe the required tightening torques.
3. Fill the amplifier circuit with hydraulic fluid.
4. Turn the steering wheels to the left or right as far as they will go (engine not running), to distribute the oil around the circuit.
5. Repeat this operation with the engine running and restore the normal fluid level.
6. If installing a new steering gear, install the outer tie rod ends in the position marked when removing the steering gear:
- loosen the bolt of fastening of the adjusting coupling of the steering rod and the outer tip of the steering rod, holding the inner joint of the steering rod with the wrench;
- mark or count the number of turns of the adjusting clutch so that the installation can restore the symmetry with the opposing tie rod.
3. Check for symmetry.
