Adjustment
Attention! If the rack pinion is knocking, check the correct adjustment of the rack pinion before replacing the steering gear.
1. Determining the source of the knocking noise.
Fix the rack on the side where the gear is located and check the lateral clearance of the gear in engagement (up and down). If the movement occurs with a knock, then it is caused by the gear.

2. Adjusting the power steering rack:
- release the adjusting nut 1 by straightening the bent tabs A on the lock washer of the nut;
- check by turning the steering wheel that the steering gear returns to the center position;
Attention! The maximum permissible adjustment is one notch turn of the nut.
- again lock the nut by bending the two opposite tabs of the lock washer into the cutouts on the mechanism body.
