Remove:
- bolts of fastening of covers of main bearings of a cranked shaft;
- crankshaft bearing caps.
Remove the crankshaft and thrust washers.
Note. Always mark the position of each crankshaft bearing shell according to the bearing number.
Remove the crankshaft main bearing shells.
Replace the crankshaft main bearing cap bolts.
Note.
Avoid impact on the following parts and do not use them as a support:
- working surfaces of the oil seal and bearing of the crankshaft or cylinder block;
- working surfaces of the crankshaft bearing caps.
Clean with a surface cleaner:
- crankshaft;
- crankshaft main bearing caps;
- working surfaces of the crankshaft main bearing shells on the cylinder block;
- working surfaces of the crankshaft bearing caps on the cylinder block.
Dry the parts using a pneumatic spray gun.
When replacing the crankshaft or crankshaft bearing shells, it is always necessary to determine the thickness class of the shells installed on each bearing. Replacement must be carried out in such a way that the clearances of the crankshaft main journals do not exceed the allowable value. This check must be carried out before installing the crankshaft.
Note. Excessive crankshaft journal clearances can result in engine damage.
Install thrust washers (3) grooves towards the cheeks of the crankshaft.
Install:
- crankshaft main bearing shells (4) on the cylinder block so that the lubrication holes (6) exactly matched the lubrication holes in the beds of the cylinder block;
- bearing shells (5) crankshaft main bearing caps;
- main bearing caps with the arrow pointing towards the timing drive.
Make sure the gap (A) between bearing shells less than 0.85 mm. Remove the crankshaft main bearings with the liners correctly installed.
Lubricate the crankshaft main bearing shells with engine oil (only the sides facing the shaft journals).
Install the crankshaft.
Install:
- caps of main bearings with an arrow towards the timing drive;
- new crankshaft main bearing cap bolts.
Tighten in the specified order to the required torque and tighten the crankshaft main bearing cap bolts to the required angle 34 Nm + 60°.
Make sure the crankshaft rotates freely without binding.
Install the connecting rods on the crankshaft journals.
Establish covers of rods, observing their selection and new bolts of fastening of covers of rod bearings.
