Checking the diameters, ovality and taper of cylinders of H4J and M4R engines (Renault Fluence 1)

Using an indicator, measure the diameter (D1) of the block cylinders at 45° intervals (by 4 diagonals) at three levels (N1), (N₂) and (N3): at a depth of 10 mm, 60 mm and 120 mm from the mating surface of the cylinder head and record these 12 diameter values for each cylinder.

Ensure that all 48 diameter measurements are within the cylinder diameter tolerance.

The diameter (D1) of the cylinders should be within 84.000 - 84.020 mm (for M4R engine) and 78,000 - 78,015 mm (for engine H4J).

Ensure that the maximum and minimum diameter values at each measurement level in each cylinder are within the tolerance limits for the cylinder out-of-roundness.

The maximum permissible deviation from the circular shape is 0.015 mm.

Ensure that the difference between the maximum and minimum diameter values in one vertical plane of each diameter in each cylinder is within the tolerance limits for the degree of taper of the cylinders.

The maximum permissible taper is 0.01 mm.
