Refrigerant
Wear safety goggles and gloves when handling refrigerant to avoid the risk of frostbite. Do not work with refrigerant near flames or very hot objects (e.g. cigarettes), to eliminate the risk of inhaling toxic fumes. Work in a ventilated area.
Handle used compressor lubricant with care as it may contain acids.
Loop depressurization
Close all piping immediately to eliminate the risk of moisture entering the system, for the same reason, new parts must be at ambient temperature before unpacking.
Plugs of connecting elements of pipes / parts must be removed immediately before their installation. The desiccant tank must not be left outdoors for more than 5 minutes (even when connected to a loop) to avoid saturation with air and moisture.
If the circuit remains connected to open air, it is necessary to replace:
- dryer tank;
- compressor oil.
Air conditioning compressor
When working with the compressor, the following rules must be observed:
- do not lift the compressor by the fittings or by the pulley;
- do not put the compressor, leaning it on the pulley;
- do not hit the pulley or fittings (brittle materials);
- Do not allow compressor oil, refrigerant or other lubricants to come into contact with the compressor clutch.
Air conditioning compressors must be stored indoors at temperatures between 5°C and 50°C. The plastic plugs supplied with a new A/C compressor may be reused from time to time.
Attention. When starting the A/C compressor for the first time, do not exceed the engine speed of 1500 rpm for the first minute of operation to allow the oil to spread throughout the system.
Installation of pipe fittings
Use only new gaskets.
Lubricate gaskets with compressor oil.
Tighten the fittings to the recommended torques, using a counter wrench if necessary.
General Circuit Precautions
Attention. It is forbidden to turn on the air conditioning system if the refrigerant is drained from the circuit.
Do not remove the compressor refrigerant fill plug when the circuit is full.
Control of electrical connections
Before connecting the connector, check:
- status of various contacts (deformation, oxidation, etc.);
- the presence of a sealing gasket;
- availability and quality of mechanical locking.
During electrical checks:
- the battery must be charged;
- it is forbidden to use sources with a voltage higher than 16 V;
- it is forbidden to use an indicator lamp;
- it is forbidden to create an electric arc.
Do not disconnect:
- battery with the engine running;
- ECU with the ignition on.
