Note. Since there is only one filling valve in the air conditioning system, some filling stations use only high pressure pipe (see the operating instructions for the filling station).
Depending on the option, let the system run for a few minutes before draining the refrigerant to ensure complete draining.
The amount of refrigerant in the system, depending on the installed engine, is indicated in the summary table «Capacity of the air conditioning system depending on the engine model and vehicle modification». Draining and checking the refrigerant charge can be done in the following three ways:
- engine and air conditioner running (A);
- engine running, air conditioner not working (IN);
- engine and air conditioner not working (WITH).
Option A
Let the air conditioner run until the electric fan of the engine cooling system turns on twice.
Stop the engine.
Carry out the first refrigerant drain (measure the drained amount of refrigerant).
A/C Circuit Troubleshooting Reference Table
Wait 15 minutes.
Check that the relative pressure is less than or equal to 0 bar.
Restart drain cycles if pressure is not less than or equal to 0 bar.
Add up the amounts of refrigerant drained in all cycles - the charge is considered sufficient if the resulting sum is +35 g or -100 g of the nominal value.
Option B
Let the engine run until the electric fan of the cooling system turns on twice.
Stop the engine.
Carry out the first refrigerant drain (measure the drained amount of refrigerant).
Wait 15 minutes.
Let the engine run until the electric fan of the cooling system turns on twice. Stop the engine.
Carry out a second refrigerant drain (measure the drained amount of refrigerant).
Restart drain cycles if pressure is not less than or equal to 0 bar.
Add up the amounts of refrigerant drained in all cycles - charging
considered sufficient if the amount received is +35 g or -100 g of the nominal value.
Option C
Carry out the first refrigerant drain (measure the drained amount of refrigerant).
Wait 2 hours.
Restart drain cycles if pressure is not less than or equal to 0 bar.
Add up the amounts of refrigerant drained in all cycles - the charge is considered sufficient if the resulting sum is +35 g or -100 g of the nominal value.
Air extraction
Be sure to carry out a high-quality pumping of air from the refrigeration sontur before charging it with refrigerant, otherwise the air conditioner will fail.
There are two options:
- evacuation of air is carried out immediately after draining the refrigerant (option A);
- air is evacuated after a few hours or days (option B).
Option A: evacuation time is 20 minutes.
Case B: The evacuation time is 45 minutes to completely remove moisture.
After evacuating the air, check the tightness of the system (some charging stations do this automatically).
Refueling
Charge the refrigeration circuit with refrigerant using a refrigerant filling station.
Add refrigerant and oil of the specified type and quantity to the refrigeration circuit according to the job to be performed.
Check for leaks with an electronic leak detector.
Check the operation of the air conditioning system.
