1.1. Front suspension in section.
MacPherson struts rest on the lower suspension arms, which are equipped with rubber mounting bushings at the inner edge and a ball joint at the outer edge. The front steering knuckles, which carry the wheel bearings, brake calipers and hub/disc assemblies, are bolted to the MacPherson struts and connected to the lower control arms via ball joints. Front anti-roll bar (installed on all models with large engines), it is attached to the engine subframe with rubber bushings.
2. The rear suspension type differs according to the rear brake type. Cars with rear drum brakes are equipped with a closed axle, which consists of two torsion bars placed in a tubular crossmember connecting the longitudinal arms of the rear suspension (see illustration).

The anti-roll bar is located directly behind the cross member and is also connected to both trailing arms.
3. Cars with rear disc brakes are equipped with an open rear axle, which consists of two torsion bars, two anti-roll bars and an L-shaped metal cross member connecting the longitudinal arms. The torsion bars and anti-roll bars are connected in the center by a connecting block, and their outer ends are attached to the trailing arms of the suspension.
4. The steering column has an intermediate shaft connected to the main shaft by a universal joint. At the lower end of the intermediate shaft there is a second universal joint, which is attached to the steering gear pinion by means of a clamp, tie bolt and nut.
5. The steering gear is mounted on the engine subframe. It is connected by two transverse steering rods to the steering arms. The steering rod ends are threaded, which allows you to adjust the wheel alignment.
6. Power steering is installed on most models with large engines. On F3P engine models equipped with air conditioning and power steering, the steering hydraulic system is equipped with an electric pump. All other models with power steering are equipped with a traditional pump driven by a belt from the crankshaft pulley.
