Removal
1. Block the rear wheels, apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the car and place it on axle stands. Remove the wheel.
2. Remove the nuts and washers from the bolts that secure the steering knuckle to the suspension strut, remembering that they are placed on the rear side of the strut. Remove the bolts and support the steering knuckle assembly.
3. Working in the engine compartment, remove the upper strut mount cover (where available). Loosen the mounting nut by locking the strut piston rod with a hex key (see illustration).
4.3. Loosen the upper strut mount nut while holding the rod with a socket wrench.
Remove the nut.
4. Separate the strut from the steering knuckle and remove it from under the wheel arch (see illustration).
4.4. Remove the front suspension strut.
Installation
5. Bring the rack assembly into working position.
6. Insert the two bolts securing the steering knuckle to the suspension strut (from the front side of the rack). Install the washers and nuts on the bolts and tighten them to the torque specified in the Specifications (see illustration).
4.6. Tighten the nut and bolt securing the suspension strut to the steering knuckle (the bolt heads are facing forward).
7. Install the upper mounting nut and tighten it to the torque specified in the Specifications (see illustration).
4.7. Install the top mounting nut.
Where present, install the cover.
8. Install the wheel, lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the wheel bolts to the torque specified in the Specifications.
