Caution: When working with airbags, follow the instructions given in the relevant section.
Disconnect the cable from the negative battery terminal.
Remove the following:
- steering wheel mounting bolt;
- steering wheel, having previously set the wheels to the straight-ahead position;
- steering column paddle shift covers;
- windshield pillar trims;
- the top of the instrument panel;
- instrument cluster;
- steering column switch block;
- center console;
- two bolts securing the heating and ventilation control panel (Fig. 8.73);

- audio system (if it is installed);
- passenger airbag (depending on modification);
- steering column;
- seven instrument panel mounting bolts;
- air distributor unit mounting bolt located under the instrument cluster;
- instrument panel;

- from the engine compartment side, install clamps on the hoses and disconnect the quick-release connections of the heater hoses (Fig. 8.75);
- windshield wiper arms;
- the upper air intake niche gasket and the outside air intake grille;
- electric fan;

- the remaining bolts securing the air distributor unit (Fig. 8.76).

In the vehicle interior, remove the air distribution unit (Fig. 8.77) and the heater radiator.
Install in the reverse order of removal. Check the correct routing of the wiring harnesses behind the instrument panel, and the reliability of the air duct connections to prevent noise.
Replace the steering wheel mounting bolt.
Before connecting the airbag, check the operation of the system.
