Removing
1. Disconnect the battery.
Attention! It is forbidden to work with pyrotechnic systems (airbags and seat belt pretensioners) near heat sources or open flames: there is a risk of triggering.
Attention! Every time the steering wheel is removed, the airbag connector must be disconnected (D). This connector is short-circuited when disconnected, thereby eliminating any possibility of accidental operation.
2. Remove the airbag by unscrewing the two bolts «asterisk» (tightening torque 5 Nm), that are behind the steering wheel, and by disconnecting the connector (D).
3. Remove the steering wheel mounting bolt.
3. Remove the steering wheel with the wheels in the straight ahead position.
4. Remove bolts of fastening of facing casings of a steering column.
5. Remove the visor and instrument panel.
6. Remove the block of understeering switches.
7. Secure the swivel slip ring with adhesive tape.
8. Remove the ashtray.
9. Turn away two bolts of fastening of the control panel of a heater.
10. Remove the screws securing the fuse board (five screws).
11. Turn away nuts of fastening of the instrument panel.
12. Release the instrument panel electrical wiring from the holders.
13. Remove the dashboard.
In the engine compartment
14. Pinch the heater hoses with tongs.
15. Disconnect the quick disconnect heater hose clamps.
16. Install the deflector and remove the remaining fluid by blowing compressed air.
17. Remove a bolt of a bracket of fastening of hoses of a heater.
18. Remove the wiper arms using the E1e tool. 1294-01
19. Remove the top seal of the air intake niche, as well as the outside air intake grille.
20. Remove the air blower.
21. Turn away a bolt of fastening of the air-distributing block.
In the cabin
22. Remove the air distribution block.
23. Remove the heater core.
Installation
1. Make sure the electrical wiring is correctly placed behind the dashboard.
2. Make sure the air ducts are securely connected to avoid noise.
3. Replace steering wheel bolt (lubricate the bolt threads with adhesive sealant, tightening torque: 45 Nm).
Important note! Before connecting the airbag, it is necessary to perform the procedure for monitoring the functioning of this system:
- make sure that the airbag warning light on the instrument panel lights up when the ignition is on;
- connect a dummy igniter to the airbag connector and check that the warning light goes out;
- turn off the ignition, connect the airbag instead of the igniter dummy and fix the airbag on the steering wheel;
- turn on the ignition, check for three seconds after the ignition is turned on, then goes out and remains off.
