Recommended fuel
Gasoline engines
Use unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of at least 95 (research method).
Attention! It is forbidden to operate the vehicle on leaded gasoline. The use of leaded gasoline will damage the three-way catalytic converter.
Diesel engine
Use diesel fuel with a cetane rating of at least 50.
Depending on the ambient temperature, operate the vehicle with summer or winter grade diesel fuel:
- at temperatures above -7°С - summer grade of fuel;
- at temperatures below -7°С - winter grade of fuel.
Attention! It is forbidden to fill the vehicle with liquid fuel intended for domestic heating boilers, gasoline and any flammable liquids other than diesel fuel. If the wrong fuel is used, the engine will be seriously damaged.
Attention! Do not refuel with summer grade diesel fuel if the ambient temperature is below -7°C. When cooled in summer fuel, paraffin crystals intensively precipitate, which clog the fuel filter. In this case, the engine may stop or run intermittently.
Engine oil level
In engines, oil is used to lubricate and cool moving parts; during operation, it is sometimes necessary to add oil between oil changes.
If, after running in the car, the oil consumption exceeds 0.5 liters per 1000 km, you must contact a Renault service station.
Interval: Check the engine oil level periodically, at least before every long trip, to avoid engine damage.
Oil level control
To accurately determine the oil level, park the vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine for a long time.
Oil level control:
- on the instrument panel;
- using an oil dipstick.
Checking the oil level according to the readings on the instrument panel.
When the ignition is switched on and for approx. 30 s:
Pic. 1.8. Oil level indication on the instrument panel - if the oil level is normal, the display shows the inscription: «Oil level OK» (see fig. 1.8).
To determine the oil level more accurately, press the button to reset the trip odometer or the button to view information on the on-board computer.
The bars shown on the display indicate the oil level. As it decreases, the squares are gradually replaced by dashes: (message 2).
To return to normal on-board computer mode, press the button again.
At the minimum allowable oil level, the squares are completely replaced by dashes (message 3) and control lamp «SERVICE» lights up on the instrument panel.
After receiving such a signal, add oil to the normal level.
Determining the oil level with an oil dipstick
Remove the dipstick.
Wipe the dipstick with a clean, lint-free cloth.
Insert the dipstick all the way (for vehicles equipped with «probe plug» - close the plug completely).
Remove the dipstick again.

Check the oil level: it should never fall below the mark «MIN» or exceed the mark «MAX».
Average filling capacity (including oil filter)
K4J engine: 4.9 liters.
K4M engine: 4.9 liters.
F4R engine: 5.4 liters.
