Removal and installation of the hydraulic unit — removal (Renault Fluence 1)

Place the car on a lift.

Disconnect the battery.

Place the device on the brake pedal to measure the amount of brake fluid flowing out.

Drain the refrigerant from the refrigeration circuit.

Remove the upper engine covers. Remove the two air filter access panel mounting bolts. Remove the intake muffler mounting bolt and remove it.

Caution: Do not damage the vacuum take-off pipe on the intake manifold. If it breaks, the intake manifold must be replaced.


Disconnect the brake booster vacuum hose from the intake manifold.

Disconnect the wire connectors from the ignition coils.

Disconnect the wiring harness from the throttle body.

Disconnect the wiring harness (1) from the air temperature sensor.

Disconnect the wiring harness (1) from the air temperature sensor.


Disconnect the wire harness (2) from the holders on the engine.

Disconnect the fuel vapor recovery system hose (1) from the holders.

Loosen the air filter housing mounting bolt. Do not remove the filter housing from the engine compartment.

Remove the filter element and air filter housing.

Loosen the mounting bolts (1) of the throttle valve unit and remove the throttle valve unit.

Loosen the mounting bolts (1) of the throttle valve unit and remove the throttle valve unit.
Loosen the mounting bolts (1) of the throttle valve unit and remove the throttle valve unit.

Unscrew the intake manifold mounting bolts (1).

Remove the intake manifold. Remove the protective screen fasteners.

Remove the protective screen.

Remove the lifting eye (1) and the air conditioner refrigeration circuit pipe (2) between the flange on the front shield and the receiver-dryer.

Remove the ABS ECU ground wire end mounting bolt.

Disconnect the ECU connector.

Unscrew the fittings securing the pipelines to the hydraulic unit.

Disconnect the pipes from the hydraulic unit.

Unscrew the mounting bolts (1) of the hydraulic unit bracket.

Unscrew the mounting bolts (1) of the hydraulic unit bracket.


Remove the hydraulic unit assembly with the bracket.

Unscrew the bolts securing the hydraulic unit to the bracket and remove the hydraulic unit.
