Note: To ensure proper operation of the fuel injection system, the accelerator pedal cable must be adjusted correctly.
Removal
1. While working in the engine compartment, rotate the throttle lever manually to relieve tension on the cable. Disconnect the cable from the lever (see illustration).
3.1. Disconnect the cable from the throttle lever.
2. Separate the cable housing and sealing ring from the bracket (see illustration).
3.2. Separate the cable housing and sealing ring from the bracket.
3. On models with automatic transmission, disengage the downshift mechanism.
4. Working inside the vehicle, disconnect the cable from the gas pedal by squeezing the locking tabs on the end (see illustration).

5. Pass the cable into the engine compartment and remove it. On some models, the cable runs under the right suspension cover; in this case, the cover must be removed (see illustration).
3.5. On some models, to release the gas pedal cable, it is necessary to remove the right engine mount cover.

6. Install in reverse order. Adjust the cable as follows.

7. The length of the cable is adjusted by changing the position of the pin on the casing. The adjustment is considered correct when, with the pedal pressed all the way down, the throttle valve is fully open, and when the pedal is released, the cable sags slightly.
8. The idle speed drive motor, when the ignition is off, slightly opens the throttle valve. In order for the throttle valve to close past this position, the cable must have sufficient slack, otherwise the engine will idle rough.
9. On models with automatic transmission, the downshift mechanism should only operate when the pedal is fully depressed. To properly adjust this switch, special tools must be used. Consult your Renault dealer.
