Removal
1. Remove the clutch as described in Section 6, or automatic transmission as described in Part F of this Section, depending on the model.
2. Mark the position of the flywheel/drive plate relative to the crankshaft.
3. The flywheel/drive plate must be locked in order to loosen the mounting bolts. To do this, screw a long bolt into one of the transmission mounting holes and insert a wide screwdriver or a piece of metal rod into the ring gear.
4. Loosen the mounting bolts and remove the flywheel/drive plate from the crankshaft. Purchase new bolts for installation.
Inspection
5. Inspect the flywheel/drive disc ring gear. If the ring gear is worn or damaged, it can be replaced, but it is best to leave this work to a Renault dealer or auto repair shop.
6. On models with automatic transmission, inspect the drive plate for warping, cracks around the bolt holes, or other damage. Replace the drive disk if necessary.
Installation
7. Clean the flywheel/drive plate and crankshaft surfaces, then position the flywheel/drive plate on the crankshaft, aligning the pre-made marks.
8. Apply a few drops of locking compound to the threads of the new bolts. Insert and tighten the bolts in a diagonal sequence to the specified tightening torque Specifications.
9. Install the clutch as described in Section 6, or automatic transmission as described in Part F of this Section.
