Note: A new gasket will be required during installation.


Removal



1. Remove the two nuts, then the washers, springs, and bushings securing the exhaust pipe to the manifold (see illustration).

Split the connection.

2. Where applicable, loosen the clamp and disconnect the hot air hose connecting the air cleaner to the air heater chamber on the exhaust manifold (see illustration).

3. Where applicable, unscrew the nuts and remove the air preheater chamber from the manifold (see illustration).

4. Gradually loosen the nuts and bolts securing the exhaust manifold, then separate it from the cylinder head. Remove the manifold gasket (see illustrations).

Installation



5. Install in reverse order. Make sure the mating surfaces of the cylinder head and manifold are clean and use a new gasket.

6. The intake and exhaust manifolds are removed together as described in Chapter 15.
