Using a micrometer, measure the inside diameter of the connecting rod upper head.

The inner diameter of the connecting rod upper head should be within 20.000-20.012 mm (for M4R engine) and 20,000 - 20.06 mm (for engine H4J).

Calculate the actual clearance using the formula: inner diameter of the connecting rod upper head - outer diameter of the piston pin.

The clearance between the piston pin and the opening of the upper connecting rod head should be within 0.005-0.017 mm.
