Replacing the power steering pump (Renault Sandero 1)

You will need: 10 mm, 13 mm keys, TORX T40, 10 mm, 13 mm socket heads, pliers, 17 mm key for pipelines.

Note. The procedure for replacing the power steering pump is shown using the K4M engine as an example. The power steering pump of the K7J and K7M engines is replaced in a similar manner. The only difference is that a 13 mm socket head is used instead of a TORX T40 key.


1. Remove the accessory drive belt (see "Replacement of auxiliary drive belts").

2. Loosen the clamp securing the supply hose by squeezing its bent ears with pliers and slide the clamp along the hose.

4. Unscrew the lower bolt securing the pressure pipe to the cylinder block...

5. ...and the upper mounting bolt to the power steering pump bracket.

6. Unscrew the pressure pipeline fastening nut...

7. ...and move the pipeline to the side.

Note: The connection between the pipeline and the pump is sealed with a rubber ring, which must be replaced each time it is disconnected.


Warning: Take measures to prevent the working fluid from leaking out of the pipeline and hose by plugging them, for example, with wooden plugs.

8. Using a TORX T40 key, unscrew the two bolts securing the pump to the bracket.

9. Remove the upper front pump mounting bolt through the hole in the pulley.

10. While turning the pulley, unscrew the two lower mounting bolts.

11. Remove the pump from the bracket by pulling it back and up.



12. Install the pump in the reverse order of removal. Tighten the pump mounting bolts and the pressure pipe mounting nut to a torque of 21 N·m (2.1 kgf·m).

13. Remove air from the power steering system (see "Bleeding the power steering system").
