Front suspension — design features (Renault Sandero 1)

Front suspension (Fig. 7.1) independent, lever-spring type MacPherson, with telescopic shock absorber struts, coil springs, lower transverse levers. Anti-roll bar is installed on modifications with K4M engine (16-valve, 1.6 l).

The main element of the front suspension is a telescopic shock absorber strut, which combines the functions of a telescopic element of the guide mechanism and a damping element of vertical oscillations of the wheel relative to the body. A coil spring, compression buffer, protective casing of the strut and upper support are assembled on the shock absorber strut. The load is transferred to the car body through the thrust bearing and upper support.

The shock absorber strut is connected to the lower suspension arm by a ball joint. The lower arms are attached to the car body by silent blocks.

Anti-roll bar (on vehicles equipped with a stabilizer) torsion type, with rubber cushions installed on it, connected to the car's subframe with two brackets, and to the lower suspension arms with bolts.

Note. The anti-roll bar is a device in the car's suspension that serves to reduce lateral roll when the car turns. The main element of the stabilizer is a rod, which is a torsion bar (a shaft that operates in torsion and functions as an elastic element). The rod is made of heat-treated steel, allowing for high torsional stresses and significant twist angles (tens of degrees).

The front wheel hubs are mounted on double-row radial thrust ball bearings.
