D-series engine
Note: New gaskets will be required during installation.
Removal
1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the car and place it on axle stands.
2. Working under the vehicle, remove the two bolts securing the exhaust pipe to the catalytic converter. Tie up the exhaust system with wire or rope.
3. Trace the wiring from the oxygen sensor and disconnect it.
4. Unscrew the mounting nuts and separate the outlet pipe from the exhaust manifold. Remove the gasket and take the outlet pipe out from under the car.
5. Unscrew the seven mounting bolts and separate the exhaust manifold from the cylinder head (see illustration).

Remove the pads.
Installation
6. Install in reverse order, using new gaskets.
F3P engines
7. The intake and exhaust manifolds are removed together as described in Chapter 17.

F7P engines (with 16 valves)
Note: New gaskets will be required during installation.
Removal
8. Remove the heat-insulating shield. Disconnect the exhaust pipe from the manifold and remove the gasket.
9. Unscrew the mounting nuts and bolts and separate the manifold from the cylinder head. Remove the gasket.
Installation
10. Install in reverse order, using new gaskets.
