1. The auxiliary water pump installed on the 16-valve model is electrically driven. It forms part of a system that is designed to reduce the temperature in the engine compartment after the vehicle has stopped. The system is described in Section 4C.
Removal
2. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery, then drain the coolant from the cooling system (see Section 1).
3. The pump is located on the left side of the engine compartment. To improve access, remove the air filter.
4. Disconnect the pump multi-pin connector (see illustration).

Disconnect the hoses, release the pump from its mount and remove it.
Installation
5. Install in reverse order. Finally, fill and bleed the cooling system as described in Section 1.
