Removal



Note: A new set of gaskets will be required during installation.


1. Disconnect the negative cable from the battery. On models with an anti-condensation system, remove the carburetor vent duct.

2. Drain the cooling system as described in Section 1, then disconnect the cooling system hoses from the carburetor.

3. Remove the air filter from the top of the carburetor and move it to the side. Remove the gasket.

4. Disconnect the throttle and choke cables from the carburetor as described in Chapters 3 and 5 respectively.

5. Disconnect the fuel inlet hose and plug its end.

6. Disconnect the remaining cables and vacuum hoses.

7. Loosen the mounting nuts or bolts, remove the washers, and remove the carburetor from the intake manifold. Remove the spacers and, where applicable, the heat shield.

Installation



8. Install in reverse order, paying attention to the following:
  • Make sure the carburetor and intake manifold mating surfaces are clean and install a new set of gaskets.
  • Adjust the throttle and choke cables as described in Chapters 3 and 5 respectively.
  • Fill the cooling system as described in Section 1.
  • Adjust the idle speed and mixture as described in Section 1.
