The type of central switching unit depends on the vehicle configuration. There are seven modifications of the unit.
The central switching unit is used to switch on:

- window lifters
- headlight washers
- fog lights and headlights
- headlights
- interior lighting shutdown retarder
- instrument panel illumination and acoustic warning signal
- rear window and side mirror heaters
- front window heater
- direction indicators, anti-theft systems and security alarms
- central locking and infrared signal receiver from the remote control
- heated seat adjustments
- electric sunroof
- ground clearance control
Attention! If a defect occurs in the operation of one of the functions of the switching unit, this malfunction is registered by the self-diagnosis system. Using a special tester, you can determine the malfunction code. When replacing the central switching unit, it should be identified using a special tester, and then program the new switching unit by entering the read data from the previous unit. To perform these tasks, the RENAULT tester is connected to the diagnostic connector 1 (see illustration 6.0). These works are carried out in the workshop.
