1. Check the fuse in the fuse box if the brake lights do not come on.
2. Check the brake light bulbs if the fuse is intact. Replace if necessary.
3. Check the brake light switch if the brake light bulbs are OK. The brake light switch is located on the brake pedal bracket. When the brake pedal is depressed, the switch pusher extends and closes the contact.
4. Turn on the ignition.
5. Disconnect the brake light switch plug and bridge both contacts of the switch plug with a piece of wire. If the brake lights come on, the switch is defective and should be replaced.
