Checking the clearance between the piston rings and piston grooves of the K4M engine (Renault Fluence 1)

Using a set of feeler gauges, check the gaps between the piston grooves and piston rings.

• The gap for the upper compression ring should be within 0.04 - 0.08 mm.
• The clearance for the lower compression ring should be within 0.025 - 0.07 mm.
• The clearance for the oil scraper ring should be within 0.08 - 0.22 mm.

If the clearance values exceed the specified values, replace the piston with the piston pin or piston rings.
