This book describes petrol engines with a capacity of 1.4 l (H4J), 1.6 l (K4M) and 2.0 l (M4R).
Valve clearance adjustment is performed automatically using hydraulic tappets and does not require manual adjustment.
The water pump is driven by a V-belt or ribbed accessory belt, which also drives the alternator, power steering pump and air conditioning compressor.
On H4J and M4R engines, the drive is carried out by means of a chain. The fuel-air mixture is prepared and ignited in the engine cylinders by the engine management system, which does not require adjustment. The ignition advance angle and idle speed are regulated by the engine management system. During maintenance, it is necessary to replace the spark plugs and the air filter element.
