Removal
1. Mark the location of the spark plug wires to make installation easier later and disconnect them from the ends of the spark plugs. Release the distributor cap retaining clips and move the cap and wiring out of the way.
2. Remove spark plug #1 (closest to the flywheel).
3. Close the spark plug hole of cylinder No. 1 with your finger and turn the crankshaft in the normal direction of rotation (clockwise when viewed from the crankshaft pulley side), until you feel pressure. This indicates that the piston is beginning its compression stroke.
4. Turn the engine until the mark on the flywheel aligns with the TDC notch on the clutch housing.
5. Use paint or a small file to make an alignment mark between the distributor base and the cylinder block.
6. Disconnect the vacuum correction tube and disconnect the low voltage wire. Release the wires from the mounting brackets on the distributor housing.

7. Unscrew the distributor clamp fastening nut and remove the clamp. Separate the distributor from the engine and remove the seal.
Bulkhead
8. When repairing the distributor, it is possible to replace only the contact breaker, capacitor, runner and cover; other spare parts are not sold separately. Please refer to Section 1 when performing these procedures.
9. After a long mileage, the shaft, bushings and centrifugal mechanism of the distributor will be worn out, so it is recommended to purchase a new distributor.
Installation
10. To install the distributor, first make sure that cylinder #1 is at TDC on the compression stroke. If the engine was turned over with the distributor removed, return it to the correct position as described earlier. Also make sure that the seal is installed on the base of the distributor.
11. With the rotor positioned at approximately 5 o'clock, place the distributor on the cylinder block and rotate the rotor slightly until the distributor drive lug engages the drive gear.
12. Align the marks made earlier on the distributor base and the cylinder block. If installing a new distributor, position the distributor housing so that the rotor is aligned with the toothed segment of the high-voltage wire for spark plug #1 in the cover. Then install the clamp and secure it with the nut.
13. Connect the low voltage wire, install the vacuum correction tube, and secure the wire harness with a clamp.
14. Install spark plug #1, distributor cap and spark plug wires.
15. Check and, if necessary, adjust the ignition timing as described in Section 1.
