Helpful Hint: The manufacturer recommends that in order to gain access to the gearbox control rod, the exhaust system be disassembled by cutting out its components (see "Replacement of exhaust system components"). However, it is possible to do without dismembering the system (which is only required in case of replacement of its individual elements) and remove the entire system as a whole.
Note: Perform work on an inspection pit or lift.
You will need: the tools necessary for removing the exhaust system, as well as a 13 mm wrench.
1. In the engine compartment, disconnect the transmission control drive rod from the gear shift lever (see item in subsection "Removal and installation of a manual gearbox").
2. Disconnect the fasteners (see "Replacement of exhaust system components") and move the exhaust system to the side.
Note. The manufacturer recommends partially removing the exhaust system to remove the transmission control rod. However, the system does not need to be disassembled or removed completely. It is enough to disconnect the inlet pipe from the exhaust manifold, disconnect the suspension cushions of the system in the area of the exhaust neutralizer and move the exhaust system to the side.
3. From underneath the vehicle, unscrew the nut on the gearbox control rod pin...
4. ... remove the flat washer from the pin...
5. ...and remove the traction from the car.
6. If you feel vibration in the gearshift lever while driving, replace the two plastic bushings in the lower head of the lever.
7. Install the gearbox control drive rod in the reverse order of removal, in accordance with the marks applied before removal (see item 10 of subsection "Removal and installation of a manual gearbox").
8. Adjust the gearbox control drive (see "Adjusting the manual transmission control drive").
