Attention! To avoid catalytic converter damage, remove the fuel pump relay to prevent fuel injection.
Attention! Observe precautions when working with electronic systems.
Note: It is recommended that you first go to a workshop to read the fault codes registered by the self-diagnosis system.
Engine starts with difficulty or does not start at all
Resistance of high voltage wires or spark plug tips too high
Replace wires/lugs.
Incorrect sequence of connecting the tips of the candles
Install the tips on the spark plugs according to the firing order: 1-3-4-2.
Wet spark plugs due to many attempts to start the engine
Remove the candles and let them dry.
Spark plugs outside are damp and dirty
Clean the candles, let them dry. Put protective silicone caps on candles and tips.
Too low voltage generated by the ignition coil
Check the fit of the wires on the ignition coil and the contacts.
Cracks in the ignition coil, traces of leakage and breakdown currents
Replace ignition coil.
Spark plug defect
Be sure to replace all spark plugs. It is allowed to replace only one candle if the reduction in engine speed is insignificant.
No ignition spark. Wet, dirty distributor cap*
Clean and dry the distributor cap. Spray inside with spark plug spray.
Cracks on the distributor cap, breakdown channels*
Replace distributor cap.
Abrasion of the carbon brush in the distributor cap*
Replace distributor cap.
Ignition distributor runner defect *
Replace the ignition distributor. The work is done in the workshop.
* only vehicles with 1.4 liter E7J engine. All other engines have a distributorless ignition system.
