The battery charging indicator does not light up when the ignition is on
Battery low
Charge the battery.
The wires on the generator are loose or the terminals are rusty
Check the wires, clean the terminals and tighten the bolts.
Charging indicator light burned out
Replace light bulb.
Faulty voltage regulator
Check voltage regulator. Replace if necessary.
Open circuit between the generator, the ignition switch and the control light
Check the circuit with an ohmmeter according to the diagram.
Voltage regulator plug not connected to rectifier board
Remove the alternator and connect the plug.
Carbon brushes do not adhere to slip rings
Check ease of movement and minimum length (5 mm) brushes.
Broken rotor winding
Replace rotor.
The battery charging indicator light does not go out when the engine speed increases
Loose ribbed belt
Pull on the ribbed belt.
Wear of the carbon brushes of the voltage regulator
Examine the carbon brushes. Replace if necessary.
Faulty voltage regulator
Check voltage regulator. Replace if necessary.
Poor contact between alternator and voltage regulator
Check wires and contacts. Replace wiring harness if necessary.
The battery charge indicator light stays on when the ignition is off
Short circuit on the rectifier block
Check the rectifier unit and replace if necessary.
