Note: A new switch washer will be required during installation.
Removal
1. Apply the handbrake, then jack up the front of the car and support it on axle stands.
2. Where applicable, unclip and remove the mudguard from the gearbox base.
3. Place a suitable container under the transmission, then remove the drain plug and allow the oil to drain. Once all the oil has drained, clean and install the drain plug, tightening it securely.
4. The switch is located on the left wall of the gearbox, next to the drive shaft (see illustration 8.21). Disconnect the wiring from the switch.

5. Unscrew the switch from the transmission and remove the washer.
Installation
6. Clean the switch threads and its mounting hole in the gearbox.
7. Insert the switch together with the new washer and tighten it securely.
8. Connect the electrical wiring.
9. Fill the gearbox with the specified amount of oil of the required grade (see Section 1).
10. Install the mudguard where available.
11. Lower the car to the ground.
