Removal
1. Remove the left half of the radiator grille.
2. Remove the door sill trim on the driver's side, see the relevant chapter.
3. Remove the hood lock, having first marked the mounting position of the fastening nuts A with a felt-tip pen (see illustration 8.4).
4. Disconnect the drive cable from the lock.

5. Unscrew the hood lock release handle mounting bolt (see arrow in illustration).

6. Remove the drive cable sealing bushing from the engine compartment bulkhead and pull the cable into the passenger compartment. The bushing is located above the pedal bracket.
Installation
7. Lubricate the drive cable grommet with a small amount of Vaseline to make it easier to install into the hole in the bulkhead.
8. Install the bushing with the cable pulled into it and screw on the hood opening handle.
9. Place the drive cable in the engine compartment and secure it to the hood latch.
10. Correct the position of the hood lock, following the marks, and secure it with bolts.
11. Reinstall the driver's side door sill trim, see the relevant chapter.
12. Put the left half of the radiator grille back in place.
