Note: Check the transmission fluid level and gear selector adjustment before concluding that the transmission is faulty.

In the event of transmission failure, it is necessary to determine whether the damage is electrical, mechanical or hydraulic in nature, which requires specialized diagnostic equipment. Leave this work to your Renault dealer.

If the transmission check light flashes when the engine is cold and the outside temperature is below -20°C, the transmission fluid temperature is too low. Continue driving until the light goes out. If the light flashes under any other circumstances, the fluid temperature is too high; slow down and maintain the speed until the light goes out.

Do not remove the transmission before diagnostics have been performed, as most tests require the transmission to be in the vehicle.
