Removing
1. Release the parking brake.
2. Place the rear of the vehicle on jack stands.
3. Release the pipes of the exhaust system in the area of the parking brake lever from the suspension mounts so that they sag down.
4. Unscrew the bolts securing the heat-reflecting shields A and B. Move the shield B back and place it on the front pipe (see illustrations 9.4 and 9.4a).

5. Measure and record distance X from adjusting nut 1 to end of thread on parking brake cable equalizer pin (see illustration). This will facilitate subsequent adjustment of the parking brake.

6. Unscrew nut 1 (see illustration 9.5).
7. Remove clamp 2 (see illustration 9.5).
8. Remove a box of the central console, the corresponding chapter see.
9. Remove the parking brake warning light switch and disconnect the plug (see illustration).

10. Unscrew nuts 5 on the bottom of the car and disconnect the parking brake lever (see illustration).

Installation
11. Put the parking brake lever in place and secure with nuts 5 on the bottom (see illustration 9.10).
12. Install clamp 2 (see illustration 9.5).
13. Screw on the adjusting nut 1 with a washer according to the measured distance X (see illustration 9.5).
14. Replace the sensor-switch of the parking brake warning light and connect its plug.
15. Replace the center console box.
16. Adjust the parking brake.
17. Install and bolt first the front and then the rear heat shields.
18. Fasten the downpipe to the suspension pads.
