Removing
Attention! All parts of the exhaust system can be replaced individually.
Attention! When reinstalling the parts of the exhaust system, ensure that they fit snugly together. Otherwise, when checking the CO content, deviations from the norm are inevitable.
Replace seals and nuts with new ones without fail. Check rubber pads and rings for the pipes of the exhaust system for porosity and damage. Replace if necessary.
Attention! The catalyst is fragile, so handle it carefully and avoid dropping or hitting it.
1. Place the vehicle on jack stands.
2. Treat all bolts and nuts of the exhaust system with a rust remover and let it work.
3. Remove oxygen sensor
4. Vehicles with a 1.4-/1.6-liter petrol engine (K4J/ K4M). Remove the air filter.
5. Disconnect the exhaust pipe at the joint near the catalyst (see illustration) or from the exhaust manifold.
5.5 Disconnect the exhaust pipe at the joint near the catalytic converter (see arrows). The illustration shows the exhaust system of a vehicle with a petrol engine
6. Cars with a gasoline engine of 1.4-/1.6 liters (K7J/ K7M). Disconnect the catalyst from the exhaust manifold.
7. Vehicles with a 1.4-/1.6-liter petrol engine (K4J/K4M). Unscrew the three nuts securing the downpipe and catalytic converter from the exhaust manifold, working from the engine compartment.
8. Release pipes of system of release OG from rubber holders of a suspension bracket. To make it easier to remove the main muffler, unscrew holder A (see illustration).
5.8 Unscrew holder A to make it easier to remove the main muffler
Installation
Before installing the exhaust system, make sure that the flange at the junction of the exhaust pipe and the exhaust manifold is not dirty or deformed. If necessary, straighten the connecting flange and clean with a wire brush.
Attention! So that the nuts and bolts of the exhaust pipe can later be unscrewed without problems, it is recommended to lubricate them with a protective paste that is resistant to high temperatures, for example, Liqui Moly LM-5O8-ASC.
9. Attach the exhaust pipe to the suspension mounts.
10. Screw on the muffler holder.
11. Secure the downpipe at the joint before the catalytic converter or on the exhaust manifold by installing a new O-ring.
12. Correct the exhaust system properly. Ensure there is no tension. In this case, it is necessary to ensure a sufficient distance of the elements of the exhaust system to the body (not less than 25 mm). The load on the rubber supports must be evenly distributed.
13. Install the lambda probe.
14. Vehicles with a 1.4-/1.6-liter petrol engine (K4J/K4M). Install the air filter.
15. Start the engine and check up system of release of the fulfilled gases on tightness.
