The Renault Clio series of models described in this book, which replaced the popular Renault 5 series, was introduced in May 1990.

Renault Clio is equipped with petrol engines of 1.1, 1.2, 1.7 and 1.8 liters (there is a 1.8-liter engine option with two camshafts), and a 1.9-liter diesel engine. All engines have an overhead camshaft and are mounted transversely at the front of the vehicle.

The model can be equipped with a 4- or 5-speed manual transmission, or a 3- or 4-speed automatic transmission. The latest version of the automatic transmission has electronic control.

All versions have front-wheel drive, front suspension is independent, rear suspension is semi-independent.

The interior decoration is distinguished by high taste and variety. Models with extended equipment are equipped with central locking, electric windows and sunroof, ABS and air conditioning.

An important advantage of the Renault Clio for car enthusiasts is its ease of maintenance and repair, as most components requiring frequent attention are easily accessible.
