1. Engage first gear in a manual transmission or move the selector lever of an automatic transmission to the "P" position (parking), brake the car with the parking brake. Ask the passengers to leave the car. If you were towing a trailer, disconnect it from the car. To prevent accidental starting of the engine, remove the key from the ignition switch.
2. Place chocks under the wheels on the opposite side.
3. Open the trunk. The lug nut wrench is attached to the right side of the trunk.
4. The jack is secured to the left side of the luggage compartment. Loosen the mounting nut and remove the jack.
5. Place the jack under the body threshold so that the edge of the threshold is located in the groove of the jack paw.
Warning. At the jack installation point, a recess is made on the edge of the threshold, into which the projection of the jack paw should fall, while the jack should be perpendicular to the supporting surface. When using the jack on soft ground, place a beam or board under the base of the jack.
6. Raise the body by turning the jack handle.
7. Before finally raising the car with a jack to the required height, carefully check again that the jack has not tilted to any side.
Warning: If possible, do not work under a jacked vehicle, but if you cannot do so, place additional supports under the body.
Additional supports should be installed only under places specially designed for lifting the car. Place a rubber or wooden pad between the support and the car body. Install the tripod support so that two of its legs are on the side of the car body and one is on the outside.
8. After completing the work, place the jack in the trunk and secure it properly.
